CARLISLE CONSERVATION FOUNDATION

Art Milliken, typically hands-on, replaces a CCF Preserve sign at the Spencer Brook Reservation.

Art Milliken, Carlisle’s Conservationist
of the Year, Steps Down as CCF President

In presenting the Conservationist of the Year Award at this year’s Old Home Day, Conservation Commissioner John Lee spoke eloquently and fondly of Art Milliken’s many contributions to the Carlisle community and of Art’s “persistent energy,” “infectious excitement,” “selfless dedication,” and “ability to build coalitions.” “Through all these years and all these efforts, Art Milliken has helped preserve more than 600 acres of land in Carlisle, many of which are valuable not simply for their open space, but for the sense of peace and tranquility that any of us who drive by these lands can not help but know. What he has done for us is what so many of us wish we could do in our homes and workplaces: Art has not only given us the Biblical ‘loaf’, he has also helped us to develop the tools we will need to move forward as we seek to build and improve this town that we all love so much.”
CCF is deeply grateful for Art’s six years as President. His leadership and tireless efforts have served as an inspiration to the rest of the Board of Directors. CCF is pleased that Art will remain an active board member.
