Progress on Benfield

A view of fields and woods at the back of Parcel A

CCF anticipates the Benfield Master Planning Agreement (which CCF began to discuss with the Benfield family and trustees nearly four years ago) will be fully implemented in the very near future. Once the Master Plan is implemented, 61 acres of CCF owned land will then be permanently protected, publicly accessible open space. When combined with the Town open space on Parcel A acquired in April, more than 100 acres of the Benfield property will be publicly accessible. In addition, the remaining 72 acres of the Benfield property will be subject to permanent conservation restrictions preserving more than one half as open space and limiting new development to only 8 single family homes. CCF expects to be working with the Town Trails Committee next year to establish neighborhood trails on the new “Benfield Reservation.”
